Description: I take lines, movements, shapes and forms from the life model to build an abstract, layered figure composition. I love to work quickly to music, because this allows freedom and spontaneity in my expression.
The bird is a Spangled Drongo. Its plumage is glossy black and tail is forked. This bird is special to me because it has a wonderful musical song. When I try to imitate its call, it sings back to me!
I like to use linear techniques and patches of colours for my ink drawings. The movement of these lines is organic in feeling.
Influences: woman, bird, the body, dance, music, dynamism, spontaneity, drama.
Drawn from the life model at a Friday morning Dynamic Drawing session, Byron Bay Australia.
This artwork has been stored since 2011 and finished in my studio this year.
